The Historic town of Maldon sits proudly on a hill boasting the popular Hythe Quay, where there are many restored Thames Barges. The Edwardian Promenade close by enjoys riverside walks and large amenity areas, with a children’s splash park.

The Plume Secondary School has recently been given academy status. Maldon is situated on the River Blackwater, approx: 10.6 miles from Chelmsford, 6.8 miles from Witham railway station, giving direct access to London’s Liverpool Street station. Maylandsea is a pleasant village situated on the River Blackwater. Maylandsea Bay Sailing Club - popular with yachting and boating enthusiasts, with pleasant walks along the tow path. Facilities include local shops with a mini-market, bars and

various take away outlets. Maylandsea is 8.7 miles (14km) from Maldon. The nearest railway station is at Althorne approximately 4.7 miles (7.6km) with direct links to London’s Liverpool Street Station. Latchingdon - a small village between Maldon and Maylandsea - offers local shops and a pub. Latchingdon is approximately 6 miles (9.7km) with South Woodham Ferrers being 6.6 miles (10.6km) away.

Cold Norton offers the popular Cold Norton Primary School, with secondary schools at Maldon, South Woodham Ferrers and Burnham-on-Crouch. 

The village of Danbury, situated on the outskirts of Chelmsford on one of the highest points in Essex, and on the Dengie peninsula, has a population of 7,500.

Danbury and Little Baddow are two of the most desirable locations in Essex as the area is surrounded by commons and National Trust woodland. 

Local amenities include doctors, dentists, medical centre, bank, chemist, numerous public houses and restaurants. Education includes two prep schools (Elm Green, Little Baddow & Heathcote, Danbury) and two primary schools (Danbury Park & St Johns). Burnham-on-Crouch is situated on the north bank of the River Crouch, which is an attractive tidal estuary and a renowned yachting centre, hosting Burnham Week at the end of August. The town has a population of just over 7,500 and is the principal settlement on the Dengie peninsula and is consequently able to boast facilities that include two primary schools and a secondary

school, doctors, dentists, a cinema, Burnham Yacht Harbour/Marina and several other boat yards, four yacht clubs, two supermarkets, numerous restaurants and public houses, and a railway station on the Southminster branch line, with direct trains into London Liverpool Street. The Burnham-on-Crouch Golf Club, founded in 1923, is situated in Creeksea on the outskirts of Burnham and enjoys breath taking views over the Crouch Valley and River Crouch. 

In the Maldon District are the coastal and countryside villages of St Lawrence and Tillingham, which are again a haven for boating and yachting enthusiasts. 

The historic village of Bradwell-on-Sea situated within the Dengie Peninsular, is located in a maritime setting with several beaches, highly regarded marina and therefore an ideal setting for the sailing and motor boating enthusiasts. Bradwell also offers a sailing/training school (Bradwell Outdoors) which offers a great opportunity for adults and children alike to learn the art of sailing.

Tillingham includes a Church of England primary school, two village pubs, local convenience store, and at the heart of the community, the church of St. Nicholas, which has a long association with St. Paul’s Cathedral, London. It is situated midway between the Rivers Blackwater and Crouch. Rail services can be found at Southminster, Burnham and South Woodham. 

The village of Southminster is situated at the end of the railway line and offers a local primary school and a high street with various local shops and facilities. 

Woodham Ferrers offers good road links providing access to the A130, A12, A127 and A13 and a railway station which provides a direct service to London’s Liverpool Street station.

Wickham Bishops, Great and Little Totham 
Wickham Bishops, close to Witham, with mainline

train station to London’s Liverpool Street station and easy access to the A12. Wickham Bishops is close to Maldon, Chelmsford and Colchester. The village offers local facilities including shops and a library. 

Great and Little Totham are two villages accessed via the B1022. The area offers the same transport links as Wickham Bishops. Great Totham offers facilities with shops and a pub. Great Totham Primary School offers very good educational facilities. 

Goldhanger, The Tolleshunts and Tollesbury. Goldhanger is an extremely popular village close to Maldon. Goldhanger offers two pubs and St Peters Church. 

The Tolleshunts incorporate the villages of Tolleshunt D’arcy, Tolleshunt Major and Tolleshunt Knights. 

The villages are on the outskirts of Maldon and Tiptree with good access to Colchester,

Chelmsford and Maldon. Tolleshunt D’arcy also offers a primary school called St Nicholas.

Tollesbury is situated on the banks of the River Blackwater close to Maldon. Tollesbury is a waterside haven for yachting and boating enthusiasts, with its very own Marina. There are local shops, bakers, hairdressers, convenience store, pharmacy and doctors surgery. There is also a local pub and two churches. 

Situated on the outskirts of Chelmsford is the village of Bicknacre with a population of around 4,500, set within the heart of the Essex country side and within neighbouring towns such as South Woodham Ferrers, Danbury, Maldon and Chelmsford. 

The villages surrounding Bicknacre such as Rettendon Common, Woodham Ferrers, Howe

Green, East, West and South Hanningfield all benefit from the close-by delightful reservoir and nature reserve with onsite facilities, including waterfront dining and a trout fishery. There are a number of equestrian facilities nearby too. 

All the villages are within a few minutes drive of major roads such as the A12, A127 and A130. 

Tiptree 

Widely regarded as the largest village in Essex, with an extensive range of local amenities including two supermarkets, library, doctors, dentist and schools. Kelvedon is 3.8 miles with its station to London Liverpool Street. 

Witham
